4. Dine in a tree (Bird’s Nest Restaurant, Thailand)
You’re bound to get an adrenaline rush eating in these pods, which sit 16 feet above the ground at Thailand’s Soneva Kiri Eco Resort. But how does the food reach guests? Waiters are strapped to a harness attached to a zip-line and they ‘fly’ up to your bird nest, bringing you the likes of exotic fruits and local delicacies.

5. Dine in the sea (The Rock Restaurant, Zanzibar)
Paddle through crystal clear water for food at this idyllic eatery, sitting a few metres away from a white sandy beach on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. You can’t ask for fresher ingredients than what you’re served here – they even have a ‘Catch of the Day’ on the menu. We’re sold, SEA you in a bit!

You don’t need to be rich to dine in this restaurant, which is hidden by what was once branded the world’s largest and strongest bank vault. You don’t need to eat fancy food either, as the menu features home comforts such as beef and guinness pie and cobb salad.

7. Dine in the snow (SnowRestaurant, Finland)
It may be pretty chilly here, but guests are given blankets, hot food and drinks and great service at this fantasy-like restaurant. The tables and glasses are made of ice and you can choose from several mouth-watering set menus, including a vegan option featuring a vegetable stew! Open only at lunchtime, you’re bound to have a memorable meal here.

8. Dine in the dark (O.NOIR Restaurant, Canada)
This quirky restaurant has guests eating and sharing conversations in complete darkness. As for what’s on the menu, you can either choose from listed meals or, if you’re brave enough, opt in for the ‘surprise’ starter, main and dessert. What makes this experience even more enjoyable is that Onoir is supported by Horizon Travail, an organization helping and supporting visually impaired people in the job market.
