Burger heaven has a name and that name might just be Sydney. We’ve put together a list outlining the greatest burger achievements around. There are times in this city when you probably feel like one you are figuratively drowning in burgers (literally drowning in burgers also sounds fine). We have such a variety of quality variations in burger-art in this city that we’d be cruel villains not to share.
Chicken means burger
Chicken Confidential is owned by Luke Mangan and proves that burger love doesn’t only limit itself to beef. Chicken doth make a legitimate burger, friends. While a more casual dining experience than his other venues, Chicken Confidential follows the same ethos of creating restaurant quality burgers in a fast food model. These also aren’t just any fried chicken burgers: the menu draws inspiration from across the globe and includes Korean crispy fried chicken with a top drawer name — Gangnam Style.
Inspired by Japan
Hatted chef Kerby Craig serves burgers inspired by his experience with Japanese cuisine in Ume Burger. The dish that goes under the same name as the restaurant is based on Japan’s Mos burger but with an added twist by Kerby. Prepare to be surprised and try something a little different.
Check out our interview with Kerby here.
Officially recognised burger heroes
BL Burgers is the winner of Time Out magazine’s ‘Best Burger in Australia 2016’ award — and heck do they deserve it. Weekly specials have included ‘The Trump Tower’, ‘Return of the Chedi’ and ‘Fryer Le Bouf’. Burger genii.
We’re all sinners
Guilty is owned by burger lord Jimmy Hurlston, who is also the mastermind behind Jimmy’s Burgers. It’s a place where nobody should ever feel guilty. Like, the food is so damn naughty that guilt isn’t even an option because you will simply embrace the indulgent meat feast and happily waltz to hell for gorging.
Goodtime Burgers have a man vs. burger challenge in which woman or man must devour ‘The Juggernaut’ in under 8 minutes in order to not pay. Check out the website to watch videos of absolute heroes eating. If you’re too soft for that, never mind — the entire menu is insatiable.
